”Servicing the vehicles can't stop the operations”

Ari Sihvonen founded his company, Sihvari Oy, in 2002. In addition to the entrepreneur himself, the company only had one employee. Today, Sihvari employs nearly 90 people. The company's headquarters is in Jyväskylä, and it has branches in Vantaa, Kuopio, Kouvola and Lappeenranta. This growing company will open its next office in Varkaus next April. Its turnover was over 14 million euros last year.

The 45 Sihvari garbage trucks and their operators work in two shifts from 6am to 10pm.

These days, environmental management services are produced in an individual and client-focused manner. The operations need to run smoothly in every situation, says Ari Sihvonen, the CEO of Sihvari.

Their client base is typical: private persons, commercial, industrial and municipal actors, and regional authorities. The field of environmental management is strictly regulated by legislation. Clients increasingly have specific requirements: for example, the City of Jyväskylä has recently introduced a requirement that their contract partner must use garbage trucks that run on biogas. The trucks have already been ordered, and they will be in operation starting next April.

Waste is no longer dumped on landfills. Recycling is the focus of today – and one of the challenges in environmental management is how the services are implemented ecologically and cost-efficiently.
The whole must be logistically feasible. Does a single truck suffice, or are two or three vehicles needed? Do they need cranes? This field also requires significant capital: a single garbage truck with all of its equipment may well cost 250,000 euros. It is clear that the trucks need to be on the move and work efficiently the entire time; there aren’t many back-up vehicles. To make this possible, the operation chain needs a reliable vehicle service partner.

For Ari Sihvonen and Sihvari, this reliable partner has been Keox Oy – since the early years of the business.

We use Keox’s vehicle maintenance services a lot. They have the expertise and the know-how. According to our own promise to our clients, we offer services throughout the day, and our goal is to be the best environmental management company in Finland, both for our clients and employees and society as a whole. To reach this goal, the entire operation chain needs to run smoothly. Vehicle maintenance is an integral link in this chain.
